This text examines three empirical examples of ""ethnic groups"" in conflict: the Bahtu and the Batutsi in Rwanda; the Aluunda and the Baluba in Zaire; and the Igbo in Nigeria, arguing that, with the exception of the Bahutu-Batutsi, the other groups are products of colonialism.
